There are some very weird plants out there
I was helping my friend with some yard work recently and, well, she didn't get much work out of me. You see, I spotted this flower opening and had to run to get my camera. It went from a closed but to fully open by noon.
And then the vile odor hit me! This particular plant, it turns out it called the Carrion Plant, aka Stapelia gigantea. The smell of dead mouse is attractive to various bugs which then pollinate it. It is an attractive succulent with minimal water requirements so it deserves it's place in the landscaping as long as it it far from the doors and windows.
I'm linking this to Macro Monday. There are more great entries over there so click on over.

How interesting! Like the stinky plant at the Huntington Gardens. Hey, we should go there someday! I can drive! Let me know, okay?

Love your series! Definitely weird but my kind of plant. Interesting indeed. I'd collect it if not for the odor you mentioned.
Nature is amazing. Especially when viewed up close!

As soon as I saw these photo's I knew this plant was one of those "stinky" type plants but did not know the exact kind. Your shots are fabulous.
