Sparrows, Chats and Peregrine Falcons

There was lots of interesting wildlife around here this week and I love it.  I was able to get pictures of several birds that were new to me, but the bobcat others had seen wasn't feeling photogenic this week.  It stayed well out of my sight.  It was probably ticked off with me for spooking all the birds it had planned on having for lunch.

White-crowned Sparrow
The little sparrow and the Thrasher were in the back yard, and the Chat was at a local nature preserve.  I actually took the picture of the Chat a while ago but didn't know what it was until this week.  I'm quite impressed with the Thrasher's beak.  My research shows that they are mostly ground dwelling birds so I'm sure they put it to good use digging up bugs.

The Peregrine Falcon wasn't exactly flying freely over my place.  I have to fess up and say that it was being flown at a function I was at over the weekend.  Hector is his name, and what a beautiful and fierce looking bird he is.  Originally a wild bird, Hector had been injured and now isn't able to take care of himself like he used to so he's a member of a raptor rehab group.

Hector, the Peregrine Falcon.

Did you go to the Living Desert? And, you have a bobcat in your neighborhood? I'm so jealous!!!! All we have are barking dogs! Happy Thanksgiving! We've been babysitting the grandson and are worn out!!!!

Happy thanksgiving.
Yes there is a bobcat in the hood but I haven't seen it yet. I'm off to the Living Desert on Saturday to walk off the turkey, LOL.

After seeing these gorgeous bird shots, I'm dumping the ones I took in my backyard today. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Barb.

[And thanks for your comment... yeah, I live it, even if it's not paradise every day. :-) ]

I've been enjoying your site and your wonderful photos.
We haven't had bobcats but there have been bears roaming our neighborhood. And we live quite a ways into town.

I love seeing your birds..Poor Hector. Living in the wild would be the best, but I so appreciate the rehabbers who help our injured wildlife...Thank you for linking to Nature Notes...Michelle
