New Year's Day found me sitting enjoying the warm sun streaming onto my patio, with my camera on my lap, inviting the wild birds to come an visit. They didn't need a second invitation.
First up was this Scott's Oriole:

I'd only seen this bird for the first time a few days earlier and I haven't seen it since, but since New Year I've been very busy so I may have missed it. Anyway, it wasn't too confident with me nearby, but my next two visitors have no problem with boundary issues.

My last visitor was this scrub jay. I see it around quite often but doesn't hang around if it thinks I've seen it.

Wow, cool birds. I would love to see the Oriole, very pretty bird. Great shots, have a wonderful day.
Nice visitors..I am guessing that the scrube jay is like my blue jay and am surprised that they all like fruit..Nice winter treat I think. Thank you for linking to Nature Notes Barb..Michelle
Barb, we've had a scrub jay in our neighborhood now for going on 3 years. He's a hoot! He likes peanuts, acorns, and black oil sunflower seeds! He's very loud. We used to have a family of orioles in our cottonwood tree out back, but I haven't seen them recently. Great finds!
Great shots. I do love that Oriole!
A neat post. I see cactus wrens and scrub jays often, but not orioles or thrashers. I'll have to watch for them!
I wonder if your weather has remained warm. Winter finally arrived here in Ontario, Canada!
Your bird photos are wonderful!
